Our website has moved and been rebuilt

Wed, 28 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0100

Since 16 October this website has been running on our own infrastructure. The domain, the site and our e-mail accounts have moved away from the previous website builder, and we took the opportunity not just to copy the site but to rebuild it.

What changes for you:

Events keep themselves up to date. The site rebuilds every morning; past events disappear, new ones from the district calendar are added. Under “With guests from state and federal level” you will find events with members of parliament in the region.
All posts on the home page. The strip under “News” shows the latest posts first; swipe to reach the older ones.
In English. The main pages and recent posts are now available in English.
Privacy-friendly. No cookies, no fonts or scripts from third-party servers, no sharing of visitor data. What we count, we count anonymously on our own infrastructure.

How the rebuild came about, what is behind it and how the websites of the other local branches in the district compare is described by our treasurer Christian Schwarz on his blog (in German).

Film talk with Dr. Dr. Rainer Zitelmann in Hirschberg

Tue, 27 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0100

A note on an event in the neighbouring town: FDP Hirschberg, together with the Hayek Forum Heidelberg, invites you to a film talk followed by a discussion with author and producer Dr. Dr. Rainer Zitelmann.

Topic: “How resentment of wealth blocks prosperity for everyone” (German title: „Wie Sozialneid den Wohlstand für alle blockiert")

When: Thursday, 5 November 2026, 6:30 pm Where: Former Synagogue, Hauptstraße 27, 69493 Hirschberg

Zitelmann, a historian and sociologist, presents his documentaries “Sweden and the Myth of Democratic Socialism” and “Vietnam – Markets Instead of Poverty” and shares findings from his worldwide research on attitudes towards wealth, prosperity and justice. Both films won “Best International Short Documentary” at the ANTHEM Film Festival in the US.

Rally of the Liberal Women in Stuttgart

Tue, 27 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0100

A note on an event organised at state level: The Liberal Women of Baden-Württemberg (Liberale Frauen) are calling for a rally. FDP Baden-Württemberg supports the call.

When: Saturday, 31 October 2026, starting at 12 noon Where: Kleiner Schlossplatz, Stuttgart Motto: “Es reicht! Wir haben verdammt viel zu verlieren!” (“Enough! We have far too much to lose!”)

Among the announced speakers is Andreas Glück, state chairman and Member of the European Parliament. According to the call, the rally responds to growing pressure on the liberal democratic order — citing antisemitism on the streets, the erosion of women’s rights, and political claims on other people’s property.

All-day primary schooling in Ladenburg: where the debate stands

Sat, 17 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0200

The town council is expected to decide in 2027 whether Ladenburg’s two primary schools will become bound all-day schools (gebundene Ganztagsschulen, where attendance in the afternoon is compulsory). A survey of parents, the results of which were presented to the education committee at the end of September, produced a clear majority in favour: 313 of 432 participating families (72 per cent) support a compulsory all-day offer, while 119 families (28 per cent) are against it.

The Liberale Runde moves indoors — to the Yukihira on 15 October

Sat, 10 Oct 2026 00:00:00 +0200

The Liberale Runde gatherings on the bank of the Neckar were a success last year and this. Many people came, the debate was spirited — and both the place and the atmosphere on the Neckar meadow went down well with everyone.

Now summer is over. So we are meeting somewhere else, every bit as pleasant:

Thursday, 15 October 2026, from 6.30 pm Yukihira Sushi, Wallstadter Straße 51, 68526 Ladenburg

We will discuss whatever is on the agenda: current questions in Ladenburg, and where the FDP stands at federal and state level. No registration is needed.

Public members' meeting on 17 September

Thu, 17 Sep 2026 00:00:00 +0200

The FDP local branch Ladenburg invites you to a public members’ meeting.

Wednesday, 17 September 2026, 6.30 pm Restaurant “Die Zwiwwel”, Kirchenstraße 24, 68526 Ladenburg

The meeting is open: besides our members, all interested residents are welcome — no registration is needed and no party card is required.

The other dates of the local branch and of the district association are on the page Events.

Liberale Runde: the town's finances and the state of housing

Thu, 13 Aug 2026 00:00:00 +0200

In the best of summer weather the Liberale Runde met at the Uferpause. With around twelve people there, the evening was well attended — and notably mixed: alongside members of the local branch came Free Democrats from neighbouring branches, plus two members of the CDU and one member of the SPD.

That is exactly what the format is for. Anyone sitting at an open table with three parties represented will meet contradiction — and that is the point.

About us

Mon, 01 Jan 0001 00:00:00 +0000

Welcome to the FDP Ladenburg

We are glad you are interested in the Liberals.

Our party describes itself in these words:

“The FDP stands for liberty, openness to the world, tolerance, and closeness to the people it serves.

Our place is the political centre. We are wary of positions on the far left and the far right. Towards violations of human rights, racism and violence we are intolerant. We trust the good sense of our fellow citizens. We support those who wish to decide their own affairs without being patronised by the state. Individual freedom ends where it impairs the freedom of others. The weak are entitled to the help of the strong and of the state.”
