Liberale Runde: the town's finances and the state of housing
In the best of summer weather the Liberale Runde met at the Uferpause. With around twelve people there, the evening was well attended — and notably mixed: alongside members of the local branch came Free Democrats from neighbouring branches, plus two members of the CDU and one member of the SPD.
That is exactly what the format is for. Anyone sitting at an open table with three parties represented will meet contradiction — and that is the point.
The town’s finances: annual accounts still missing
The main subject of the evening was the financial position of the town of Ladenburg. One point occupied the group in particular: the annual accounts still outstanding, which have yet to be delivered.
Against that background the approvals of borrowing were viewed critically. The objection: as long as the accounts are not available, there is no basis on which to judge the debt position with any confidence. Whoever approves before the books are in order is deciding without the full picture.
Housing: no common line
The discussion of the state of housing in Ladenburg remained contentious. What the town can do here, and what it ought to do, was answered differently around the table — there was no common line that evening.
That, too, is part of an open gathering: it is not a place for decisions, but one for arguing a case.
The Liberale Runde meets regularly and is open to all who are interested — no registration and no party card required. The next dates are on the page Events.
